From Mark Schatz:
Rooster Ruley was one of the most influential and inspiring banjo players in the Shenandoah Valley Region in the ‘70’s. I met him when he loaned me a bass to play a gig with Peter Rowan and Tony Rice at a wonderful outdoor venue in Lexington, VA called Lime Kiln. He gave me one of my biggest compliments saying “You sew the whole mess together!” His best picking days may be behind him, but he still gives a strong performance on this project, and he’s joined by good friends who are some of the best pickers in the region including Wyatt Rice on guitar, Danny Knicely on mandolin, Nate Leath on fiddle, and yours truly on bass. It’s a good listen!
